What is DEET?

DEET (N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) is the most widely used and well-researched insect-repellent active ingredient. It repels mosquitoes, biting flies, midges, ticks and other biting insects by masking the scents that attract them. Bushman Heavy Duty is a 40% DEET aerosol built for long-lasting, professional-strength protection.

Does a higher DEET percentage work better?

A higher percentage does not repel more insects — it lasts longer. Low-percentage repellents suit short trips around town, while 40% DEET like Bushman is designed for extended protection in high-mosquito, tropical, bush and outdoor conditions where you need cover for hours.

How to apply

Spray a thin, even layer onto exposed skin and/or clothing, avoiding the eyes, mouth and any broken or irritated skin. Reapply as directed on the label, especially after sweating or swimming, and wash it off once you are back indoors.

Safety: follow the label directions and age guidance — lower-strength repellents are generally recommended for young children. Avoid applying to hands of small children, and do not spray directly onto the face (spray hands and wipe on). Keep away from flames when using the aerosol.
