It is supplied with a rechargeable moisture absorbent to pull out any humidity that gets in when the case is opened — which is the real problem on a boat, since each opening admits damp air that then sits against the AED. Waterproof AED Case FAQs
What does IP67 mean?
The first digit, 6, is complete protection against dust. The second, 7, means it withstands immersion in up to a metre of water for 30 minutes. In practice: spray, rain and a dropped-overboard moment are all survivable.
Why does it need a desiccant if it is waterproof?
Because every time you open it, humid air comes in and stays. Sealed shut, that moisture condenses against the AED. The desiccant absorbs it, which is why the case ships with one and why it is rechargeable.
Is a case an alternative to a cabinet?
They solve different problems. A cabinet mounts on a wall, signposts the AED and often alarms. A case protects an AED that travels or lives in a harsh environment. Vessels and mobile crews want a case; fixed premises want a cabinet.
Does it come with an AED?
No. The case houses a defibrillator you already own or buy separately, and the interior is customisable to suit the model and any accessories you keep with it.
