QV Intensive Moisturiser - 100g
A highly emollient water-free soothing ointment for extremely dry, cracked sensitive skin. Helps to rehydrate and seal moisture in the the skin.
QV Intensive Moisturiser is a highly emollient balm formulated for extremely dry or cracked skin. It helps seal moisture into the skin, and its water-free formulation will not sting when applied to inflamed or cracked skin. Low-irritant and free from fragrance, colour and lanolin, it is also vegan friendly. 100g.
Why choose QV Intensive Moisturiser
This is the heaviest option in the range, and that is the point. A balm is far more occlusive than a cream or lotion, so it suits skin that has gone past dry into cracked - heels, knuckles, fingertips, and the hands of anyone working outdoors or washing constantly. Lighter products simply absorb and disappear on skin in that state.
The water-free formulation is what makes it usable on skin that is already split. Water-based creams carry dissolved salts and preservatives onto exposed nerve endings, which is the sharp sting people report - and a product that hurts on application does not get applied. QV Intensive Moisturiser avoids that entirely, which matters most for children and for anyone treating painful cracks.
It is built for reactive skin: low-irritant, free from fragrance, colour and lanolin, and suitable for dry, sensitive, itchy skin and eczema. It helps maintain the skin's protective properties rather than just sitting on top, and it contains no animal derived ingredients. Apply it liberally to face and body and massage in gently, ideally after bathing or showering.

Common uses
Cracked heels and split fingertips, hands ruined by winter or by constant washing, and eczema that has reached the painful cracking stage - a balm is what those need rather than a lotion. Most people use it on the problem areas and something lighter everywhere else: QV Cream 500g covers whole-body daily moisturising. For a water-free option with ceramides, QV Dermcare Sting Free Ointment is the alternative. See the full Ego Pharmaceuticals range.
QV Intensive Moisturiser FAQs
Why does it not sting on cracked skin?
Because the formulation is water-free. In a water-based cream it is the water carrying dissolved salts and preservatives across exposed nerve endings that causes the sting. Removing the water removes the sting, so it can go straight onto split skin.
How is a balm different from a cream?
A balm is heavier and more occlusive, so it seals moisture in for longer and stays put on skin that is very dry or cracked. A cream absorbs faster and suits daily maintenance. For heels, knuckles and fingertips, the balm is the one that works.
Is it suitable for eczema?
Yes, it is suitable for dry, sensitive, itchy skin and eczema, and it is free from fragrance, colour and lanolin. It supports the skin barrier rather than treating an active flare, so use it alongside anything your doctor has prescribed.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes - the directions cover face and body. Apply it liberally and massage in gently, and avoid the eyes. It is heavy, so some people prefer it overnight on the face and a lighter cream during the day.
When is the best time to apply it?
After bathing or showering, while the skin is still slightly damp - that traps the moisture the balm then seals in. Reapply through the day on hands and heels, which lose it fastest.
Is it vegan?
Yes - it contains no animal derived ingredients, and it is also free from fragrance, colour and lanolin.
For external use only. Avoid the eyes. Store below 30 degrees C. Always read the label and follow the directions for use, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. A moisturiser supports the skin barrier and is not a substitute for treatment prescribed by your doctor for eczema, dermatitis or infection. Seek medical advice for skin that is weeping, bleeding or infected, or for cracks that are deep, painful or not healing.
