What is sorbolene cream?
Sorbolene is more an Australian product category than a brand, which is why the word is familiar here and largely unknown overseas. It is a light, water-based moisturising cream built from cetomacrogol emulsifying base, purified water and glycerin. It carries no fragrance, no colour and no active drug, and that plainness is the entire point: with almost nothing in it, there is almost nothing to react to.
It has two jobs in most households. As a moisturiser it goes on after showering to hold water in the skin. As a soap substitute it cleans without stripping, which matters more than people expect, because ordinary soap removes the skin barrier faster than any cream can rebuild it.
Why 10% glycerin, and why a pump
Glycerin is a humectant. At 10% it draws moisture from deeper skin layers and from the air into the stratum corneum, which is a different mechanism from an occlusive ointment that simply seals. In practice that makes this lighter and faster-absorbing than a heavy paraffin cream, and more suitable for large areas and for daily use in warm weather.

How to use sorbolene
Apply generously after showering while the skin is still slightly damp, which traps the water already there rather than trying to add it from outside. Reapply to hands through the day, and to shins and heels at night where dryness concentrates. Used as a soap substitute, smooth it onto wet skin in the shower and rinse lightly rather than lathering it like soap.

Is sorbolene a good moisturiser?

Is sorbolene good for eczema?

Is sorbolene good for sunburn?
