PAD-350P

The HeartSine 350P (samaritan PAD 350P) is a public access defibrillator with every feature of the flagship 500P except CPR Advisor — the same clinical capability, the same 8-year warranty and the same combined Pad-Pak cartridge, at a lower purchase price. Sudden cardiac arrest survival falls with every minute without treatment, so the value of an AED is measured in whether a site can afford to have one at all.

Why choose the HeartSine 350P?

The honest case for the HeartSine 350P is budget coverage. If choosing the flagship means one defibrillator across a site, and choosing this means two — one at each end of the building — two wins. Proximity saves more lives than feature count, because the limiting factor in cardiac arrest is the walk to the cabinet.

It gives up exactly one thing: the real-time compression coaching that CPR Advisor provides. Everything else is intact — the same single Pad-Pak combining battery and electrodes with a 4-year life, the same visual and verbal prompts for untrained rescuers, the same 8-year warranty, the same adult and paediatric capability.

Choose the HeartSine 350P where your responders are trained and refreshed regularly, or where budget determines how many units you can deploy. Choose the 500P instead if you want the device to coach compression quality during the resuscitation.

Common uses

Workplaces, sports clubs, schools, community halls and multi-site operators covering several locations on a fixed budget. Check placement against our guide to defibrillator requirements in Australia, and keep units in service with the defibrillator checklist. Consumables: adult Pad-Pak and paediatric Pad-Pak. Train staff on the 350P trainer, step up to the 500P with CPR Advisor, or compare the defibrillator range.

HeartSine 350P FAQs

What exactly does the 350P give up versus the 500P?

One feature: CPR Advisor, the real-time coaching on compression rate and depth. Shock delivery, the Pad-Pak system, the prompts, the 8-year warranty and adult/paediatric capability are identical. If nobody at your site would act on compression feedback, you are paying for something you will not use.

What is a Pad-Pak?

A single cartridge containing both the battery and the electrode pads, with a 4-year life from date of manufacture. You replace one part rather than two, and after an event the replacement gives you a brand-new battery as well as fresh pads — which removes the classic failure of new pads on an old battery.

Is a semi-automatic AED harder for an untrained person to use?

Not materially. The device still analyses the rhythm and tells the rescuer clearly when to press. The difference matters mainly where a bystander might freeze at the instruction to press a button — in that case the fully automatic 360P removes the decision entirely.

How many defibrillators does a site need?

Enough that one can be reached and returned within the first few minutes anywhere on site. That is a distance question, not a headcount question: a large warehouse may need two where a small office needs one. Read defibrillator requirements in Australia and confirm against your own WHS obligations.

Do staff need training to use it?

The unit guides an untrained rescuer through the sequence, so it can be used without training. Training still materially improves outcomes, because recognising arrest and starting compressions fast is the part no device can do for you — see the chain of survival and the DRSABCD action plan.
