The AEROCREPE Crepe Bandage 7.5cm x 4M is a support and retention bandage supplied in a wrap of 12. It conforms to the limb and holds a dressing in place. The elastic construction gives the most stretch and recovery in the range, so it follows a moving joint without slackening off as quickly. The 7.5cm width suits arms and lower legs.

Why choose the crepe bandage?

Most bandage purchasing goes wrong in one of two ways: buying one width for everything, or buying on the assumption that a stretchy bandage delivers medical compression. The first makes the bandage uncomfortable and less effective; the second is a clinical mistake. This is a support and retention bandage — it holds dressings and supports a limb.

The elastic construction gives the most stretch and recovery in the range, so it follows a moving joint without slackening off as quickly. The Crepe Bandage 7.5cm suits arms and lower legs, which is the practical basis for choosing a width: match the bandage to the body part rather than stocking one size.

Whatever width you use, the safety point is the same and it is worth stating plainly. A bandage applied too tightly restricts circulation, and the warning signs appear beyond the wrap — numbness, tingling, coldness, colour change or increasing pain. Loosen and re-apply if any of those appear. Browse the Aero bandages.

crepe bandage FAQs

Is a crepe bandage the same as a compression bandage?

No, and the difference matters. A crepe bandage stretches, but stretch is not therapeutic compression. A compression bandage is a defined system with tested pressure performance, used under clinical direction for conditions such as venous disease. It is a support and retention bandage. Do not substitute one for the other on clinical advice you have not been given.

How tight should it be?

Firm enough to support, never tight enough to restrict circulation. Stop and re-apply more loosely if the limb beyond the bandage becomes numb, tingly, cold, pale, blue or increasingly painful, or if swelling worsens below the wrap. Over-tightening is the most common and most dangerous mistake with any bandage.

Do Light, Medium and Elastic mean different compression strengths?

No. They describe the construction and weight of the fabric, not a measured clinical pressure grade. Choose on feel, conformability and how much support the job needs — not on an assumption that "medium" delivers some specific pressure.

Which width should I use?

Roughly by body part: 2.5cm for fingers and thumbs, 5cm for wrists and small limbs, 7.5cm for arms and lower legs, 10cm for larger limbs and knees, 15cm for thighs and torso. Too narrow a bandage concentrates pressure in a band, which is uncomfortable and less effective.

When should an injury be seen by a clinician instead?

Suspected fracture, obvious deformity, severe or increasing pain, inability to bear weight, an open wound, numbness or any concern about circulation all need assessment. A bandage is support while you get help — it is not a substitute for it.
