AEROFILM Film Dressing 10 x 12cm Box of 3 at 10 x 12cm is a sterile, waterproof, ultra-thin transparent film dressing. It is film only — there is no absorbent pad. It is designed to go over I.V. devices, clean skin or wounds, providing a breathable barrier to outside contaminants. Box of 3.

Why choose the Film Dressing 10 x 12cm Box of 3?

A Film Dressing 10 x 12cm Box of 3 does a different job from an island dressing. With no pad, it is a barrier rather than an absorber: ideal over an IV cannula, intact skin or a clean wound with no exudate, and the wrong choice for anything weeping. If there is fluid, use the AEROFILM PLUS island version instead.

The SupaBond adhesive is specified to hold for up to 7 days, which is the practical argument for it — fewer dressing changes means less interference with the site, less nursing time and, per the manufacturer, faster recovery.

It is impermeable to water and body fluids, so the patient can shower and bathe without redressing, and being transparent it lets the site be inspected without lifting anything. Swimming and full immersion are not claimed. Browse the Aero wound dressings.

Film Dressing 10 x 12cm Box of 3 FAQs

What is the difference between AEROFILM and AEROFILM PLUS?

The pad. AEROFILM PLUS is an island dressing — transparent film with a SupaSorb absorbent, low-adherent pad in the centre, so it can sit directly over a wound that is producing fluid. Plain AEROFILM is film only, with no pad. Choosing film-only for a weeping wound is the most common mistake in this range.

Can I shower with it on?

Yes. The manufacturer states the film is impermeable to water and body fluids and that the patient can shower and bathe without redressing. Note that swimming and full immersion are not claimed — treat those as beyond the stated performance.

How long can it stay on?

The SupaBond adhesive is specified to keep AEROFILM in place for up to 7 days, which reduces interference with the wound and cuts dressing changes. Actual wear time depends on the site, the skin and how much movement it takes; follow clinical direction where one has been given.

Can I see the wound without removing it?

That is the point of a transparent film. The manufacturer notes it lets you monitor fluid levels and check for clinical signs of infection without taking the dressing off — and every dressing change you avoid is one less disturbance to healing tissue.

Which wounds is it NOT suitable for?

Do not assume it covers everything. Heavily exuding, infected, deep or cavity wounds, and chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, all need clinical assessment and usually a different dressing. If a wound is bleeding actively, is deep, or you are unsure, get it looked at rather than sealing it under a film.
