AEROPLAST Wound Closure Strips offer a painless alternative to stitching for closing minor wounds. The narrow 3mm strip, five to a card — more strips across a wound means finer control of how the edges are drawn together. They work by holding the wound edges together so the tissue can knit, which for a clean, shallow, low-tension laceration is all that sutures would have achieved. 3 x 75mm, 5 strips per card, box of 50. Part of the Aero wound dressings range.

Wound Closure Strip FAQs

When should a wound be stitched instead?

When it gapes, is deep, is on a joint or under tension, is bleeding heavily, is a bite, or is dirty enough to need proper cleaning. Closure strips suit clean shallow wounds whose edges already meet. If in doubt, that is a clinician's call, not a first aider's.

How are they applied?

Clean and fully dry the skin first — adhesive will not hold on moisture. Anchor one side, draw the edges together, then lay the strip down across the wound. Space the strips so there are gaps for drainage rather than sealing the wound shut.

How long do they stay on?

Until they lift off on their own, typically five to fourteen days depending on the site. Do not pull off a strip that is still holding — that reopens the wound you just closed.

3mm or 6mm wide?

Narrow strips let you place more of them and control the edges more precisely; wider strips give more holding power per strip. For a longer or slightly tenser wound the wider strip usually wins.
