Aqua Ear is the drying drop you use straight after the water, not days later when the ear already aches. It dries trapped moisture from the ear canal and slows bacterial growth, which is what prevents swimmer's ear developing in the first place. The 35mL bottle contains isopropyl alcohol 634mg/mL with glacial acetic acid 17.3mg/mL.

Does it treat an ear infection?

Can children use Aqua Ear?

Can I use it if I have grommets or a perforated eardrum?

No. Do not use it with a perforated eardrum, with grommets in place, or if there is any discharge from the ear. In those cases the solution can reach the middle ear, which is exactly what you want to avoid. Have the ear checked and ask what is safe to use.

Is it the same as using rubbing alcohol at home?

Not quite. The alcohol does the drying, but the glacial acetic acid also lowers the pH of the canal, which discourages bacterial growth. It is a measured combination at known strengths, which matters for something you are putting in an ear canal repeatedly through a season.
