Difflam Anti-Inflammatory Mouth Wash 500ml

Difflam Anti-Inflammatory Mouth Wash is a benzydamine hydrochloride solution at 1.5mg/mL, used as a gargle or mouth rinse for painful conditions of the mouth and throat. It is the product dentists and doctors point to after an extraction or a tonsillectomy, and the one people reach for when a sore throat has become genuinely painful rather than merely scratchy. Why choose Difflam over an ordinary gargle?

Most mouthwashes are antiseptic, antibacterial or simply cosmetic. Difflam is different because benzydamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory with local anaesthetic properties - it acts on the inflammation and the pain directly, at the surface, rather than trying to kill organisms. That is why it works on pain that has nothing to do with infection, such as after dental surgery or during radiation-related mouth soreness.

The labelled indications are broad and specific at once: symptoms of sore throat, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, mouth ulcers, swelling, redness and inflammatory conditions, pain following mouth and throat surgery, and pain following dental procedures. Three situations account for most of it. A severe sore throat, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, where an anti-inflammatory gargle does more than a lozenge.
