Why use a magnifying lamp in a first aid room?

Small foreign bodies are hard to see under room lighting, and a handheld magnifier leaves you one hand short. A magnifying lamp puts light and magnification exactly where you need it and keeps both hands free for tweezers, a splinter probe or a dressing. The ring of LEDs around the lens helps reduce shadow from your own hands. Only remove surface splinters or grit: don’t probe deeply or dig for glass or embedded objects, which need a doctor. Wash your hands and put on gloves before treating a wound under the lamp, as you would anywhere else.

Mounting options

The lamp comes with a table clamp. The clamp opening, power cable and plug details and warranty are not stated by the supplier, so ask us before ordering if you need to confirm them. For a room where you need to move it between beds or chairs, add the mobile base, or fix it to a wall with the wall mount, both sold separately. Check that the bench edge is solid enough for the clamp before fitting it.

Magnifying lamp or magnifying glass?

A lamp suits a fixed first aid room, clinic or workshop where you treat people regularly. For a portable kit, consider a handheld magnifying glass. The lamp does not replace medical care: a foreign body in the eye, a deeply embedded object or a wound that may contain glass should be seen by a doctor, and never touch or try to remove something embedded in the eye: protect the eye without pressing on it and get medical help.
