Milton Anti-Bacterial Tablets 30 Pack - Hospital Grade

Milton tablets are effervescent anti-bacterial tablets that sterilise by cold-water soak in 15 minutes, killing bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores. Each tablet contains sodium dichloroisocyanurate 500mg, giving 32% available chlorine. Milton has been used in hospitals since 1916 and this is the 30-tablet pack, AUST L 62660.

How Milton tablets work, and the two rules that matter

Dropped into water the tablet releases available chlorine, which is what does the killing. Two things determine whether it works. First, dilution: follow the ratio on the pack exactly, because a solution that is too weak will not sterilise and one that is too strong is simply wasteful and harder on the items. Second, contact time - the full 15 minutes, with everything fully submerged and no air pockets trapped inside bottles or teats, which is the most common reason a soak fails. Items must be cleaned before they go in; chlorine is inactivated by milk residue, food and other organic soil, so sterilising a dirty bottle sterilises very little. Make up fresh solution daily, keep tablets dry and out of reach of children, and do not mix the solution with other cleaning chemicals.
