Why terbinafine is a once daily athlete’s foot cream
Terbinafine is fungicidal: it kills the fungus rather than only stopping it multiplying. It also binds into the outer layer of skin and keeps acting there for days after the last application, which is why the course is short and the dose is once a day rather than two or three times.
That matters practically. Athlete’s foot treatment fails far more often from people stopping early than from the product not working, and a once-daily cream is easier to finish.
Finish the athlete's foot course, even when it looks better
The itching settles well before the fungus is gone. Stopping at that point is the single most common reason athlete’s foot comes straight back and then seems “resistant” the next time. Complete the course on the pack even if the skin looks normal.
Treat the shoes and socks as well as the feet. Fungus survives in footwear, so dry feet thoroughly between the toes, change socks daily, alternate shoes so each pair dries out, and avoid bare feet in shared showers and changing rooms. Otherwise you are re-infecting yourself from the same pair of shoes.
What this athlete's foot cream treats, and what it does not
This product is for tinea pedis, athlete’s foot. It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age. It is not a general antifungal for every site: fungal nail infection does not respond to a cream, because the cream cannot reach under the nail plate, and scalp infections need oral treatment. See a doctor or pharmacist for nails, scalp, or anything on the face or near the eyes.
See a doctor rather than self-treating if you have diabetes, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system and develop a foot infection, if the skin is broken, weeping, or the foot is red, swollen and painful, or if there is no improvement after the course. A foot infection in a person with diabetes is not a minor problem. Ask a pharmacist before using it in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

How often do I apply it?
Once daily, per the pack. Terbinafine stays active in the outer skin layer for days after application, which is what allows a once-daily regimen rather than the two or three times a day older antifungals need.
How long until athlete’s foot clears?
Follow the course length on the pack and complete it even once the itching stops. Symptoms settle before the fungus is eradicated, and stopping early is the main reason it returns.
Can I use it for jock itch or ringworm?
This product is indicated for athlete’s foot. Terbinafine is used for other tinea infections in other products, but use the one indicated for the site you are treating and ask a pharmacist rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
Will it fix a fungal nail infection?
No. A cream cannot penetrate the nail plate to reach the infection underneath. Fungal nails generally need a specific nail treatment or oral therapy, which is a conversation with a doctor or pharmacist.
Can children use it?

Why does my athlete’s foot keep coming back?
Usually either the course was stopped early, or the footwear is reinfecting you. Dry between the toes, change socks daily, alternate shoes so each pair dries fully, and avoid bare feet in shared showers.
