Licetec Head Lice (Nit) Comb - Metal (2)
Licetec Metal Nit Comb (2-pack) is a stainless-steel fine-tooth comb designed for effective mechanical removal of head lice, lice nymphs and lice eggs (nits) from hair. The tightly-spaced metal teeth catch even tiny lice eggs that plastic combs miss. Reusable and easy to clean.
What is the Licetec Metal Nit Comb?
The Licetec Metal Nit Comb is a stainless steel head lice removal comb with tightly spaced fine teeth designed to mechanically extract head lice, lice nymphs and lice eggs (nits) from hair. The 2-pack is a household essential when one child has lice - the second comb covers siblings or family members.
Why mechanical removal works
- The comb's narrow tooth gap physically pulls lice and eggs off the hair shaft.
- Effective even when chemical treatments fail or where resistance has developed.
- No chemical residue on hair or scalp.
- Safe to use on broken skin or sensitive scalps.
- Chemical-free option for pregnant women, infants and chemical-sensitive household members.
Features
- Stainless steel - durable, doesn't bend, easy to sterilise.
- Fine teeth - 0.2-0.3mm gaps designed to catch nits.
- Ergonomic handle - comfortable grip for the 5-10 minute comb-through process.
- Reusable - lasts years with proper care.
- 2-pack - one comb per household member, or one in reserve for sibling use.
How to do a thorough nit-comb session
- Wash hair with regular shampoo and rinse.
- Apply plenty of conditioner to wet hair - leave on for the comb-through.
- Comb the hair smooth with an ordinary wide-tooth comb first.
- Section the hair into 4-6 sections with clips.
- Starting at the scalp, comb each section from root to tip with the Licetec nit comb.
- Wipe the comb on a tissue or rinse in hot water between every stroke.
- Repeat across the whole head - takes 10-15 minutes for shoulder-length hair.
- Rinse out the conditioner.
- Repeat the whole session every 3-4 days for 2 weeks.
Treatment plan
The 2-week cycle is critical because lice eggs hatch in 7-10 days. Combing every 3-4 days catches new hatchlings before they can reproduce. Many families combine the metal nit comb with a chemical or natural treatment for faster eradication.
Care and storage
- Rinse under hot water immediately after use.
- Soak in vinegar or hot soapy water 10 minutes.
- Brush teeth with an old toothbrush to remove stuck debris.
- Air dry and store in a sealed bag.
- Disinfect with isopropyl alcohol between household users.
Frequently asked questions
How do you use a Licetec metal nit comb correctly?
Wash hair with regular shampoo and apply plenty of conditioner (the slip helps the comb glide). Working in small sections from roots to tips, comb every section systematically, wiping the comb on tissue or rinsing in hot water between strokes to remove lice and eggs. Repeat every 3-4 days for 2 weeks to break the lice life cycle.
Why use a metal comb instead of a plastic nit comb?
Metal combs have rigid, finer-spaced teeth (typically 0.2-0.3mm gaps) that catch lice eggs - plastic combs flex under pressure and miss eggs. Stainless steel is also more durable, easier to clean, and can be sterilised in boiling water between users. The 2-pack lets you use one for combing and one for siblings.
Should I use a chemical treatment with the nit comb?
Best results come from combining both: apply a head lice treatment (Moov, Quit Nits, Lyclear) per instructions, then comb out the dead lice and weakened eggs with the metal nit comb. Conditioner-only comb-through (wet combing) every 3-4 days for 2 weeks is also effective and chemical-free.
How do you clean a Licetec nit comb between uses?
Rinse under hot water (60C+) immediately after use to remove lice, eggs and debris. Soak in vinegar or hot soapy water for 10 minutes to loosen any stuck eggs. Use an old toothbrush to scrub along the teeth. Air dry. Store in a sealed bag. For shared household use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol between users.
