BLIZZARD Green EMS Heat Casualty Blanket 245 x 265cm
The BLIZZARD Heat Trauma Blanket provides TOG 7 thermal insulation to prevent heat loss in a trauma patient — in haemorrhage, exposure to weather, or immersion in water. Hypothermia treatment is a critical part of first aid in trauma-induced shock, because a cold patient clots poorly and deteriorates faster. Blizzard's Reflexcell construction reaches higher TOG ratings than foil while staying compact enough to carry. 245 x 265cm, the largest in the range.
Key Features
- TOG 7 thermal insulation — a measured rating, not a claim
- Reflexcell multi-layer construction for superior thermal performance
- For haemorrhage, inclement weather exposure and water immersion
- Compact and lightweight for application and storage despite the coverage
- 245 x 265cm — full casualty coverage, carton of 5

Hypothermia Blanket FAQs
How is this different from a space blanket?
A foil space blanket reflects radiant heat and does very little else. Blizzard products use multi-layer Reflexcell material with a measured TOG insulation rating, so they trap warm air the way a sleeping bag does. On a shocked trauma patient in the wet, that difference is clinically significant.
What does the TOG rating mean?
TOG measures thermal insulation — the higher the number, the more heat retained. It lets you compare products on a real figure instead of a marketing claim, which is why Blizzard quote it.
Why does hypothermia matter in trauma?
A cold trauma patient clots less effectively and deteriorates faster, so preventing heat loss is part of treating the injury, not an afterthought. It is why hypothermia management appears in bleeding-control protocols.
Are they reusable?
Treat them as single-incident items in an emergency kit. They are compact enough that carrying a fresh one is easier than assessing whether a used one still performs.
