The CARDIACT AED Premium Prep Kit holds the items you need before the pads go on. A defibrillator cannot work through clothing, sweat or a hairy chest, and fumbling for scissors and a razor costs the seconds that matter most in a cardiac arrest. The premium kit adds a hard-cased CPR mask with an oxygen port, a second pair of gloves and a hazardous waste disposal bag over the basic version. Packed in a high-quality clear pvc case so a rescuer can identify the contents at a glance. 14 x 16 x 6cm.

AED Prep Kit FAQs

Why does an AED need a prep kit?

Pads must make firm contact with bare, dry skin. Clothing has to be cut away, a wet chest dried, and heavy chest hair shaved where the pads sit — otherwise the pads lift and the shock is not delivered properly.

Why a razor specifically?

Chest hair stops the adhesive gripping and insulates the skin from the pad. A proper surgical razor clears the two pad sites in seconds; a cheap disposable razor drags and wastes time.

Basic or premium?

Basic covers preparation with a face shield. Premium adds a hard-cased CPR mask with an oxygen port, a second pair of gloves and a waste bag — worth it where trained responders may give oxygen or where two rescuers work together.

Where should it be kept?

With the AED, not elsewhere. A prep kit in a different cupboard is a prep kit nobody uses. Most sites store it inside or immediately beside the AED cabinet.
