Why does an AED need monitoring?
Because its self-test result is only useful if someone sees it. Pads expire, batteries deplete, and units get moved or taken. Remote reporting turns a monthly manual check into continuous assurance.
What does it actually report?
The readiness status the AED itself determines — so you learn about a fault or an expiry from a notification rather than from a walk-round, or worse, at the moment of an emergency.
Which AEDs does it work with?
It is the HeartSine Samaritan gateway, designed for that range. Other manufacturers have their own monitoring solutions; they are not interchangeable.
Does it replace physical checks?
It removes the need for frequent visual inspection, but a periodic physical check is still sensible — monitoring reports the device status, not whether the cabinet is blocked, damaged or the signage has gone.
