Moov Head Lice Sensitive, 200mL. A 20 minute treatment that kills head lice and eggs by physical action, coating the louse so it suffocates. Free from common irritants and preservative free, for sensitive scalps.

Physical action rather than a neurotoxic insecticide

The product coats the entire surface of the louse and kills it by suffocation. That is a physical mechanism, which matters for two reasons: it is gentler on the scalp than older insecticide treatments, and lice cannot readily develop resistance to being smothered the way they have to some chemical treatments.

Resistance is the reason many families find that a product which worked years ago no longer does.

Applying it properly is most of the outcome

Use on dry hair, not wet, since water dilutes the coating. Cover the eyes. Divide the hair into segments and apply behind the ears and at the nape first, which is where lice concentrate and where people under-apply. Work through until the hair is thoroughly and visibly coated to the ends. Leave for the full 20 minutes.

Comb, and repeat. Combing through with a fine-tooth nit comb removes dead lice and eggs, and it is how you check whether the treatment worked. A second treatment after about seven days catches anything that hatched after the first, and skipping it is the single most common reason an infestation comes back.

Treating the household, not just the head

Check everyone in the house on the same day and treat those who have live lice, rather than treating one child repeatedly while reinfection comes from a sibling. Wash recently used pillowcases and hats in hot water. Lice do not survive long off a head, so deep-cleaning the house is unnecessary.

Avoid the eyes and keep the product away from broken or inflamed scalp skin. "Free from common irritants" is not a guarantee for everyone, so stop if the scalp becomes red, itchy or sore beyond the itch of the lice themselves. Ask a pharmacist before use on infants, in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and see a doctor if the scalp is infected, weeping or crusted.

Moov Head Lice Sensitive FAQs

How long does the treatment take?

20 minutes on dry hair. Leave it the full time; cutting it short is a common reason a treatment appears not to work.

Does it kill eggs as well as lice?

The pack states it kills head lice and eggs. A second treatment about seven days later is still worth doing, to catch anything that hatched after the first.

Wet hair or dry hair?

Dry. Water dilutes the coating, and the coating is the mechanism. Apply behind the ears and at the nape first, where lice concentrate and where people under-apply.

Do I still need to comb?

Yes. Combing with a fine-tooth nit comb removes dead lice and eggs and is how you check the treatment worked. Treatment without combing leaves you guessing.

Why does it keep coming back?

Usually a missed second treatment, or reinfection from an untreated household member or classmate. Check everyone on the same day and treat those with live lice.

Do I need to clean the house?

No. Lice do not survive long away from a head. Wash recently used pillowcases and hats in hot water and leave it at that.

Is it safe for a sensitive scalp?

It is formulated free from common irritants and without preservative for that reason, but that is not a guarantee for everyone. Stop if the scalp becomes red or sore, and ask a pharmacist about infants or use in pregnancy.

Always read the label and use only as directed. Avoid the eyes. See a doctor if the scalp is infected, weeping or crusted. This information is a general guide and is not medical advice.
