The reason to choose a bath additive over a cream is coverage. Chicken pox, widespread eczema, hives or sunburn are not problems you can realistically treat by rubbing product onto every affected patch, especially on a distressed child. Pinetarsol Solution disperses through the bath water and reaches everything at once, including the places nobody wants to be creaming.

The list of conditions it covers is unusually broad: dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, chicken pox, nappy rash, sunburn, prickly heat, hives, insect bites, and anal and genital itching. It also replaces soap rather than adding to it. Soap irritates inflamed skin, so washing normally works against everything else you are doing; this cleanses gently without that penalty and is pH-balanced to keep the skin's own protective acidity intact. Dosing is by capful - one capful is 5mL: add 15-30mL to a warm to tepid bath, or 5mL to a baby's bath or a hand basin, and bathe for 5-10 minutes once daily, more often in severe cases.
