Ural sachets are an effervescent urinary alkaliser used for the short-term relief of the burning and stinging that comes with cystitis. Each 4g sachet dissolves in a glass of cold water to make a lemon-flavoured drink that raises the pH of urine, so acidic urine stings less as it passes. This is the 28-sachet pack.

Why choose Ural sachets?

Ural sachets work on the symptom, not the infection. Urine that has become acidic is what produces the sharp burning during cystitis, and raising urinary pH makes it less irritating. That makes them useful for comfort while a urinary tract infection is being assessed or treated, but they are not an antibiotic and they will not clear an infection on their own.

The pack is built for exactly that short window. Directions are 1 to 2 sachets in a glass of cold water, up to four times daily, for adults and children 12 years and over, and not for more than 5 days unless a doctor advises otherwise. At the maximum dose a 28-sachet box is roughly three and a half days of treatment, so one pack covers the full recommended course without leftovers encouraging longer use than the label allows.

One point worth being precise about: this formulation contains no potassium salts. Its alkalinising action comes from sodium bicarbonate with citric and tartaric acids. It does carry 644mg of sodium per dose, which matters if you are on a low-sodium diet, so that is the figure to check rather than potassium.
