Zantac (ranitidine) belongs to a group of drugs called histamine-2 blockers. Zantac works by reducing the amount of acid the stomach produces. Instead of just neutralising the excess stomach acid like antacids, Zantec works by preventing the stomach from producing too much acid in the first place and so provides long lasting relief from indigestion and heartburn.
