AEROFIX Zinc Oxide Tape 2.5cm x 5M Box/12
AEROFIX Zinc Oxide Tape is a rigid strapping tape for securing dressings to skin and for strapping joints and sporting injuries. Zinc oxide tape is the traditional choice where you want the tape itself to take load — it has far less give than a cohesive or conforming wrap, so it limits joint movement rather than just holding a dressing on. Supplied as a box of 12 spools from the sports tapes and strapping range.
Key Features
- Rigid zinc oxide tape — strong enough for strapping, not just retention
- Each roll comes on an individual spool with a cap, so the adhesive edge stays clean between uses
- Suited to heavier-duty work: strapping sporting injuries, strains and sprains
- Also secures dressings directly to skin
- 2.5cm width — the narrow size for fingers, thumbs and small joints
- Supplied as a box of 12 rolls; carton of 30 boxes

AEROFIX Zinc Oxide Tape FAQs
What is zinc oxide tape used for?
Two jobs. It strapped joints long before elastic tapes existed, because it barely stretches — so it restricts movement in a way a conforming bandage cannot. It also sticks reliably to skin, which makes it a straightforward way to hold a dressing in place.
Is zinc oxide tape the same as rigid strapping tape?
In practice yes — zinc oxide is the adhesive and backing chemistry used in most traditional rigid strapping tapes. If a physio has told you to use rigid tape, this is the category they mean.
Why 2.5cm rather than a wider roll?
2.5cm is the width for thumbs, fingers and small joints, and for anchor strips. Wider rolls suit ankles and knees. Most kits carry a narrow and a wide roll rather than one middle size.
Should it go straight onto skin?
It can, and it is designed to. On hairy skin, repeated taping, or sensitive skin, an underwrap applied first makes removal far more comfortable and protects the skin underneath.
