Why choose Egoderm Cream - corticosteroid free
Being corticosteroid free is the reason people are sent to it. Steroid creams work, but there are places and durations where they are not the first choice - the face and hands especially, where skin is thin and exposure is constant, and long-term maintenance where continuous steroid use is not appropriate. Egoderm Cream relieves itch and inflammation without that constraint, which is why it is used on exactly those areas.
It combines two effects that usually come in separate products: it relieves itch and inflammation, and its moisturising base soothes and hydrates dry skin. For dermatitis and persistent eczema that combination matters, because the dryness and the inflammation drive each other - treating one and ignoring the other is why flares keep returning.

Common uses
Hand dermatitis from constant washing, facial dermatitis where a steroid is not wanted, shaving and cosmetic rashes, and the long maintenance phase after a flare has settled. Is Egoderm Cream a steroid cream?
No - it is corticosteroid free. That is its main point of difference and the reason it is often chosen for the face and hands, and for ongoing maintenance use, where continuous steroid application is not appropriate.
What conditions is it for?
Dermatitis - particularly of the face or hands - persistent eczema, and cosmetic or shaving rashes. It is also used as maintenance therapy for dry, scaly skin once a flare has settled.
Can I use it on a baby?
It is suitable for adults, children and babies. For an infant with a significant or spreading skin condition, have it assessed by your doctor or child health nurse rather than treating it at home.
How often should I apply it?
Three times daily, or as needed. Consistency is what keeps dry, scaly skin under control - and avoid soap while you are using it, as soap will undo the benefit faster than the cream delivers it.
Why is it lanolin free?
Lanolin is a recognised skin sensitiser and a common reason a moisturiser aggravates eczema instead of helping. Leaving it out reduces the chance of irritation, which matters most on already-inflamed facial and hand skin.
What if it is not working?
If very itchy but less inflamed skin persists after three to five days, Ego's guidance is that a tar-based preparation may be needed - discuss it with your pharmacist. See your doctor if skin is weeping, cracked, bleeding or infected, if a rash is spreading, or if eczema is not responding.
