The AEROFILM PLUS Island Dressing 4 x 5cm Box of 50 at 4 x 5cm combines a transparent waterproof film with a SupaSorb absorbent, low-adherent pad — so it can sit directly over a wound that is producing fluid. The manufacturer positions it as a post-operative and delicate-wound-site dressing. Box of 50.

Why choose the Island Dressing 4 x 5cm Box of 50?

The pad is the whole distinction, and it is where buyers most often go wrong. Plain AEROFILM is film only and has no pad; this Island Dressing 4 x 5cm Box of 50 has one. Film-only over a weeping wound leaves the fluid nowhere to go — if there is any exudate, you want the island version.

Being transparent, it lets you monitor fluid levels and check for clinical signs of infection without removing the dressing. That matters more than it sounds: every unnecessary dressing change disturbs healing tissue and costs nursing time.

The SupaBond hypoallergenic adhesive is specified for low irritation risk and to hold over body contours, and the film is impermeable to water and body fluids so the patient can shower and bathe without redressing. Swimming and full immersion are not claimed. Browse the Aero wound dressings.

Island Dressing 4 x 5cm Box of 50 FAQs

What is the difference between AEROFILM and AEROFILM PLUS?

The pad. AEROFILM PLUS is an island dressing — transparent film with a SupaSorb absorbent, low-adherent pad in the centre, so it can sit directly over a wound that is producing fluid. Plain AEROFILM is film only, with no pad. Choosing film-only for a weeping wound is the most common mistake in this range.

Can I shower with it on?

Yes. The manufacturer states the film is impermeable to water and body fluids and that the patient can shower and bathe without redressing. Note that swimming and full immersion are not claimed — treat those as beyond the stated performance.

How long can it stay on?

The SupaBond adhesive is specified to keep AEROFILM in place for up to 7 days, which reduces interference with the wound and cuts dressing changes. Actual wear time depends on the site, the skin and how much movement it takes; follow clinical direction where one has been given.

Can I see the wound without removing it?

That is the point of a transparent film. The manufacturer notes it lets you monitor fluid levels and check for clinical signs of infection without taking the dressing off — and every dressing change you avoid is one less disturbance to healing tissue.

Which wounds is it NOT suitable for?

Do not assume it covers everything. Heavily exuding, infected, deep or cavity wounds, and chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, all need clinical assessment and usually a different dressing. If a wound is bleeding actively, is deep, or you are unsure, get it looked at rather than sealing it under a film.
