Blue Food-Safe Plaster FAQs
Why must food-industry plasters be blue?
Because blue is the one colour that does not occur naturally in food. A blue dressing that comes off in a production line is seen immediately, where a skin-tone plaster would not be. That visual layer is the first line of defence, before any equipment is involved.
What does metal detectable add?
A detectable strip inside the dressing so that if it is missed visually, metal detection equipment on the line will find it. Visual plus metal detection is two independent chances to catch the same problem.
Is this required by law?
Australian food safety standards require food handlers to cover wounds with a covering that is both waterproof and brightly coloured, and many businesses specify metal detectable as part of their own HACCP plan. Check your site's food safety programme for the exact requirement.
Latex free and hypoallergenic?
