Why hospital skin care lotion is a different product

Occupational hand dermatitis is an ordinary consequence of clinical work. Repeated washing strips the skin's own lipids, detergent alkalinity shifts its pH, and alcohol rub on skin that is already cracked stings enough that people start avoiding hand hygiene altogether. That last step is the real risk, because it turns a skin problem into an infection control problem.

An ordinary moisturiser addresses the dryness but washes off. A lotion carrying dimethicone leaves a thin silicone film that keeps working through the next few exposures.

What dimethicone does here
