The LIFEPAK CR2 Fully-Automatic defibrillator with Wi-Fi delivers the shock itself after warning bystanders to stand clear — nobody presses anything. It pairs that with CPR Insight, which analyses the heart rhythm while compressions continue, so the rescuer is never told to stop. Between them, those two features remove the two moments where an untrained rescuer normally hesitates or loses time.

Why choose the LIFEPAK CR2 Fully-Automatic?

A semi-automatic AED asks whoever is nearest to press a button that will shock another person. A proportion of people will not do it, or will pause while they decide, and that pause is measured in survival. The LIFEPAK CR2 Fully-Automatic takes the decision away and states out loud what is about to happen.

The second advantage is that it never asks for a pause in compressions. Conventional defibrillators must stop CPR to re-analyse the rhythm; CPR Insight analyses through the compressions. Interruptions to chest compressions are among the most damaging things that happen in a real resuscitation, and this is the design that avoids them.

Wi-Fi readiness reporting closes the loop: an expiring electrode set or a depleting battery arrives as a notification rather than being found on a walk-round. Choose the LIFEPAK CR2 Fully-Automatic for unsupervised public locations; choose the semi-automatic version where trained responders want control of shock timing.

Common uses

Shopping centres, gyms, transport hubs, sports grounds, schools and any unsupervised public access location where the rescuer cannot be predicted. Plan placement with our guide to defibrillator requirements in Australia and keep units in service with the defibrillator checklist. Consumables: replacement electrode kit and replacement battery kit. Train on the CR2 trainer; compare the semi-automatic CR2 and the lower-cost Essential fully-automatic in the defibrillator range.

LIFEPAK CR2 Fully-Automatic FAQs

What does fully automatic mean here?

The device analyses the rhythm, announces that it is going to shock, tells everyone to stand clear and then delivers it. The rescuer attaches the pads and follows the voice prompts. There is no shock button, so there is no moment where someone has to decide to press one.

Is it safe with bystanders nearby?

It gives an explicit verbal warning before every shock and only shocks a rhythm it has determined is shockable. Follow the prompts and keep clear when told. The whole design assumes an untrained rescuer, which is why the warnings are unambiguous.

What is CPR Insight and why does it matter?

It analyses the heart rhythm while chest compressions are still being given. Every other AED needs compressions stopped to analyse, and each pause drops blood flow to the brain. Removing those pauses is the strongest clinical argument for the CR2.

Fully automatic or semi-automatic for my site?

Fully automatic for public, unsupervised places where the rescuer may be an untrained stranger. Semi-automatic where trained staff will respond and want to control shock timing. Both use the same Wi-Fi, CPR Insight and warranty — the difference is only who decides when to shock.

What are the running costs?

Electrodes and battery are replaced on schedule and are both available as kits. Add a cabinet and signage so the unit is findable. Wi-Fi tells you when a consumable is approaching expiry, which is what stops an AED quietly going out of service between manual checks.
