Which pads indicate a urinary tract infection?
Leukocytes and nitrites are the two that matter most, and they are strongest read together - leukocytes suggest white cells, nitrites suggest bacteria that reduce nitrate. Blood is often present as well. A dipstick supports the clinical picture; it does not replace culture where that is indicated.
Can a dipstick diagnose a condition on its own?
No. These are screening strips read in clinical context. A positive pad prompts further assessment - culture, laboratory testing or clinical review - rather than a diagnosis. Interpretation belongs with the treating clinician.
How should the strips be stored?
