ZOLL CPR-D pads are the adult one-piece defibrillation electrode for the ZOLL AED Plus and AED Pro, incorporating CPR depth and rate sensing. The sensor sits between the pads over the sternum, so the AED can measure compressions as they are delivered and give the rescuer feedback in real time.

Why choose ZOLL CPR-D pads

The reason ZOLL CPR-D pads matter is that compressions are the part of resuscitation people get wrong. Under real conditions rescuers consistently compress too shallow and too fast, and without feedback they have no way of knowing. A pad set with depth and rate sensing turns the AED into a coach rather than only a shock delivery device.

The one-piece design solves a different problem - placement under pressure. Two separate pads have to be positioned correctly relative to each other by someone who may never have done it before; a single pre-spaced assembly is laid on the chest in one action, which removes a decision at the worst possible moment and speeds up time to first shock.

They are a consumable, and consumables expire. Every AED needs its pads in date and its battery current, or the device fails at the only moment it matters. Check the expiry on the pack, record it in your AED register, and replace pads after any use - a used pad set is not reusable.

Common uses

Workplaces, schools, clubs, gyms and public-access AED sites running a ZOLL AED Plus or AED Pro - held as the in-date set on the device plus a spare, because a deployed set cannot be reused. Paediatric patients need a different electrode: ZOLL Pedi-padz II paediatric electrodes are the child version. The ZOLL CPR-D accessory rescue kit supplies the razor, shears and barrier that a real resuscitation needs alongside the pads. See all defibrillator accessories.

ZOLL CPR-D pads FAQs

Which ZOLL devices do these fit?

The ZOLL AED Plus and the ZOLL AED Pro. Defibrillator electrodes are not interchangeable between manufacturers or between models within a manufacturer - always match the pads to your exact device before ordering.

What does the CPR sensor actually do?

It measures the depth and rate of your chest compressions and feeds that back through the AED while you work, so you can correct compressions that are too shallow or too fast. Rescuers routinely misjudge both, and feedback is the only reliable way to know.

Are these for adults or children?

Adults. For paediatric patients you need ZOLL Pedi-padz II, which deliver an appropriately reduced energy dose. Using an adult electrode on a small child is not equivalent - check your device and protocol.

Can pads be reused?

No. They are single use. Once deployed - even if no shock was delivered - the adhesive and gel are compromised, so the set must be discarded and replaced. Every AED should have a replacement set available.

Do they expire?

Yes. Defibrillation electrodes have a stated expiry date and the gel dries out over time, which can prevent effective delivery. Check the date on the pack, log it in your AED register alongside the battery, and replace before expiry rather than after.

What else should I keep with the AED?

A spare in-date pad set, a current battery, and a rescue kit containing a razor for chest hair, shears for clothing, a barrier device and a towel. Pads will not adhere to a wet or hairy chest, and that is a common cause of delay in a real event.

Use only with the compatible ZOLL device and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Adult electrodes only - use the correct paediatric electrode for children. Single use: discard and replace after any deployment. Check expiry dates regularly and maintain an AED register covering pads and battery. This product does not replace CPR and AED training. In a cardiac emergency, call 000, start CPR immediately and apply the AED as soon as it is available.
