How is this different from the ABC First Aid Guide?
Different syllabus. This one covers advanced resuscitation techniques and low voltage rescue; the other covers Provide First Aid, Basic Emergency Life Support and CPR. Many training organisations stock both because they serve different units.
Does it follow current guidelines?
It follows the latest ARC Guidelines and is designed for Australian conditions. Resuscitation guidelines are revised periodically, so check that both your copy and your competency remain current.
Is a book enough to hold the competency?
No. Advanced resuscitation is assessed practically - oxygen equipment, airway adjuncts and suction are hands-on skills. The book supports study and revision between renewals; the competency comes from accredited training.
