Aeroplast Blue Extension Finger Dressing (50) 2 x 16cm
Aeroplast Detectable finger extension plasters are detectable finger dressing strips measuring 2 x 16cm - long enough to wrap a finger and extend onto the hand. They are metal detectable and visually detectable, washproof, breathable, hypo-allergenic and carry an enhanced adhesive.
Why choose a detectable finger dressing
Fingers take most of the injuries in food handling and processing, and they are the hardest place to keep a dressing attached - constant flexing, constant washing, and gloves being pulled on and off over the top. A detectable finger dressing at 16cm wraps the finger and continues onto the hand, so the anchor is on skin that does not bend.
The enhanced adhesive is not a marketing line, it is the response to that specific problem. A standard plaster on a wet, flexing finger lifts within an hour, and a lifted dressing in a food area is a contamination event waiting to be recorded. Being washproof addresses the other half - hands in this sector are washed constantly.
It carries both forms of detection: bright blue so a detached dressing is visible against product or equipment, and metal detectable so inline detection catches it if it is missed by eye. It is also breathable and hypo-allergenic, which matters when a dressing is worn all shift under a glove.

Common uses
Commercial kitchens, food manufacturing and processing, catering and hospitality - anywhere hands are the tool and a lost plaster is a recordable contamination event. Sites usually stock a finger format alongside a general strip: the metal detectable dressing 7.5cm x 1m covers larger wounds, and the standard blue detectable dressing is the visual-only option. detectable finger dressing FAQs
Why a finger extension shape?
Because a finger bends and a plaster wrapped only around it peels at the edges. At 16cm the dressing wraps the finger and extends onto the back of the hand, anchoring on skin that does not flex - which is what keeps it on for a full shift.
Is it both metal and visually detectable?
Yes. Bright blue so a detached dressing is visible against product or equipment, and metal detectable so inline detection equipment registers it if it is missed by eye. Two independent methods, which is what a food safety audit looks for.
Will it survive hand washing?
It is washproof and uses an enhanced adhesive, which is the combination needed in a sector where hands are washed many times a shift. Change it if it does lift or become soiled - a lifted detectable dressing has already stopped doing its job.
How many are in a pack?
The product name states 50 while the supplier description states 100. Confirm the pack quantity with us before placing a bulk order rather than relying on either figure.
Should it be worn under a glove?
Follow your food safety plan. Usual practice is a detectable dressing under a glove, logged when applied and checked at breaks and end of shift, with a defined procedure covering affected product if a dressing goes missing.
Are they suitable outside food handling?
Yes - the finger extension shape and enhanced adhesive suit any workplace where hands do the work, including engineering, warehousing and trades. The detection features simply become redundant rather than a drawback.
A dressing protects a wound; it does not treat infection. Clean the wound before dressing, change dressings whenever they lift or become wet or soiled, and seek medical advice for deep or contaminated wounds, bleeding that will not stop, or any sign of infection. Confirm pack quantity before bulk ordering, as the product name and supplier description differ. In food handling environments, follow your organisation food safety plan.
