Non-medicated training gauze: it contains no haemostatic agent and will not clot blood. RapidStop training gauze exists so trainees can practise wound packing — the physical skill of getting gauze deep into a wound and holding pressure — without consuming expensive live product. Z-folded and vacuum sealed so it handles exactly like the real thing.

Why choose the training gauze?

Repetition is what builds wound packing skill, and live haemostatic gauze is far too expensive to give a class enough of it. Training gauze changes the economics: students get five attempts instead of one, which is the difference between having seen the technique and being able to do it.

Handling realism is why it is Z-folded and vacuum sealed rather than a plain roll. Packaged gauze feeds and unravels in a particular way under pressure, and practising with something that behaves differently trains the wrong movements.

It must never be used on a casualty. There is no active agent in it. Store it apart from live stock and label it clearly — the moment when the difference matters is the moment nobody has time to read the packet.

training gauze FAQs

Does this gauze stop bleeding?

No. It is non-medicated and contains no haemostatic agent. It must never be used on a casualty — it is for practising the packing technique only.

Is it sterile?

Treat it as a training consumable, not a clinical one. Even where packaging is intact, it carries no active agent and has no role in patient care. Buy live haemostatic gauze for anything that will touch a wound.

Can it be reused?

Once packed into a trainer it is contaminated with simulated blood and loses the handling characteristics that make it useful. Most providers treat it as single use per student attempt and budget accordingly.

Why not just train with live gauze?

Cost. Live haemostatic gauze is expensive and single use, so training on it limits repetitions per student — and repetitions are what build the skill. It also depletes the stock you need for real incidents.

What does it work with?

The TRAUMASIM range of bleeding wound trainers, which pump simulated blood and stop only when the wound is packed correctly.
