Common questions
What is SALT triage?
SALT stands for Sort, Assess, Life-saving interventions, Treatment/Transport - the mass casualty triage guideline suggested by the NHTSA. Casualties are sorted globally, assessed individually, given immediate life-saving interventions, then prioritised for treatment and transport.
What is the difference between SALT and START triage?
START uses four categories and rapid physiological checks. SALT adds a global sorting step, life-saving interventions within the first minute, and a five-category system that includes expectant. The MT-501 carries the five-colour SALT tear-offs.
Is the MT-501 waterproof?
Yes - liquid-proof synthetic construction that also resists fire, chemicals, sunlight and tearing, printed with a thermal process for harsh field conditions.
